mesh

Mesh is made of finesilver wire, 0.25mm. or 0.3mm thick, by pulling up loops with a tiny crochet hook, size .75 or 1 mm. Unlike knitting, where each succeeding row is worked in the previous row, mesh is worked into the previous two rows in order to give it added strength. Finesilver (999 parts out of 1000 pure silver) as opposed to sterling (925 parts out of 1000), must be used in making mesh because of its greater malleability and ductility.
